# Content Outline

Design the skeleton before anyone writes a sentence. A strong outline decides
what the piece covers and in what order, so drafting becomes filling in points
rather than discovering the argument mid-draft.

About this skill

What is the Content Outline?

The Content Outline skill is the exact instruction set Okara’s Writer Agent follows when it structures a piece. It captures how the agent gathers must-cover subtopics, builds the heading hierarchy, adds talking points, and sequences for flow — so drafting starts from a solid scaffold.

It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that both people and AI agents can follow directly. Read it to understand how a complete outline is built, hand it to your writers, or let the Writer Agent generate outlines you can draft against.

Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running the skill continuously to outline every piece before drafting is part of the Writer Agent.

Example

See it in action

You ask: Outline an article on "employee onboarding best practices."

Agent does: Here’s the skeleton. H1: "Employee Onboarding Best Practices: A Practical Guide." I pulled must-cover subtopics from the SERP and People Also Ask, so the H2s run: why onboarding matters, pre-boarding, the first day, the first 90 days, remote onboarding, common mistakes, and measuring success — each with 3-4 bulleted talking points and the stat or example to include. I’ve marked the intro hook, two internal-link spots, and a CTA at the end. It’s sequenced foundations-first so a writer can draft straight down the page.

How it works

From input to fix list

  1. 1

    You give a topic

Tell the Writer Agent the topic and primary keyword you want the outline to cover.

  2. 2

    Okara maps the subtopics

The agent pulls must-cover subtopics from the SERP, People Also Ask, and competitor headings so nothing essential is missed.

  3. 3

    It builds the hierarchy

An H1/H2/H3 structure with bulleted talking points per section, sequenced for logical flow.

  4. 4

    You get a draftable scaffold

A complete outline with marked intro hook, CTA, and internal-link spots — ready to draft against.

What's included

Everything it checks

  • Intent-anchored scope

The outline is built around the primary keyword and the intent the piece must satisfy.

  • Complete subtopic coverage

Must-cover subtopics pulled from the SERP and People Also Ask so nothing essential is missed.

  • Heading hierarchy

A clean H1/H2/H3 structure that answers the query from top to bottom.

  • Talking points per section

Bulleted key points, data, and questions under each heading — a scaffold to draft against.

  • Logical sequencing

Sections ordered for progressive disclosure so each builds on the one before.

  • Marked hooks & links

Intro hook, CTA, and internal-link opportunities flagged where they belong.

Use cases

When to reach for it

  • Lock a piece’s structure before committing time to drafting.
  • Make sure an article covers everything the query implies.
  • Hand a writer or AI a scaffold they can draft straight down.
  • Plan the flow of a complex piece before writing it.
  • Turn scattered research into an ordered, draftable structure.
