GummySearch Alternatives: What to Use Now That GummySearch Is Shutting Down

GummySearch deletes all data on Dec 1, 2026. Here's what to export, and 9 alternatives mapped to each GummySearch feature, from free alerts to AI research.

If you used GummySearch to research Reddit audiences, you have until December 1, 2026 to get your data out. After that, the tool and everything saved in it are gone.

This guide covers what happened, what to export, and which tool replaces each part of what GummySearch did. No single product replaces all of it, so the useful question is which GummySearch features you actually used. (If you only need a Reddit search tool, see our best Reddit search tools.)

What happened to GummySearch?

GummySearch depended on Reddit's Data API. Its founder spent months trying to get a commercial license from Reddit and couldn't reach terms that fit Reddit's API policies, so he chose to wind the product down instead of operating without a license. It had served more than 140,000 founders, marketers and researchers.

The timeline:

DateWhat changes
Nov 6–30, 2025Last chance to buy or upgrade
Nov 30, 2025New signups, renewals and payments stop
Dec 1, 2025 – Nov 30, 2026Transition year: existing paid customers keep access until their plan expires; lifetime deals run to Nov 30, 2026
Dec 1, 2026GummySearch shuts down and all user data is deleted

The reason matters when you pick a replacement. Any Reddit tool that relies on the Reddit API without a commercial agreement carries the same risk. Before you move your workflow somewhere else, ask the vendor how they access Reddit data.

Export this before December 1

Log in and save:

  1. Audiences. The subreddit lists you built. Copy them into a spreadsheet: subreddit name, members, and why you added it.
  2. Keyword tracks. Every tracked keyword and phrase, including the negative terms you used to cut noise.
  3. Saved conversations. Threads you bookmarked as pain points, solution requests or competitor mentions. Save the URLs, not only the summaries.
  4. Reports. Any AI-generated audience reports. Copy the text into a doc.
  5. Themes you found useful. Note which categories (pain points, solution requests, money talk, hot discussions) you checked most. That tells you which replacement matters most for you.

The 9 best GummySearch alternatives

1. Syften: the closest replacement for keyword tracking

Syften watches Reddit, Hacker News and about 15 other communities for your keywords and sends alerts by email, Slack or webhook. Its filter language supports AND, OR, NOT, exact phrases and per-community rules, which is how you replicate GummySearch's keyword tracks without drowning in noise. It collects data by crawling rather than relying only on Reddit's API, the dependency that ended GummySearch.

  • Good for: brand and competitor mentions, "alternative to X" threads, alerts you actually read.
  • Not for: audience research or exploring subreddits you don't know yet.
  • Pricing: Entry plan around $20–30/month (3 filters, 7-day archive). Higher tiers add Slack, AI filtering, API, webhooks and MCP. Check syften.com for current prices.

2. F5Bot: the free starting point

F5Bot has emailed people when their keywords appear on Reddit, Hacker News or Lobsters since 2016. It has no dashboard, scoring or history. For a solo founder tracking a brand name and two competitors, though, it's often all you need.

  • Good for: free, dependable keyword alerts.
  • Not for: filtering noisy keywords or any kind of research.
  • Pricing: free, with paid options from about $10/month.

3. Okara Reddit Agent: for turning Reddit research into ongoing replies and posts

This is our product, so weigh that accordingly. The Reddit Agent works from your website and product context. It finds threads where people describe the problem you solve, ask for recommendations or complain about a competitor, summarizes each community's rules, and drafts a reply for you to post from your own account. It's part of Okara's AI CMO, so the same product context feeds SEO, AI-search, X and LinkedIn work.

  • Good for: founders who used GummySearch to find conversations and then wanted to act on them every week.
  • Not for: one-off market research, or anyone who only needs Reddit. Okara is priced as a full marketing system, which makes it overkill for occasional audience research.
  • Pricing: the Reddit Agent is on the Pro plan, $249/month ($208 billed annually). Okara's free plan includes the website analysis and strategy. See pricing.

4. Redreach: for Reddit lead generation on a budget

Redreach scores Reddit posts 0–100 for relevance, drafts replies in your voice, and has a feature that finds Reddit threads already ranking on Google for your keywords. That last one is useful, because a reply there keeps getting search traffic for months. It also offers DM outreach through a Chrome extension. You post from your own account.

  • Good for: Reddit-only lead gen at a low price.
  • Not for: audience research, or channels beyond Reddit.
  • Pricing: Startup about $19/month, Growth about $39, Professional about $79.

5. Reddinbox: for pain-point and market research

Reddinbox is the closest match to GummySearch's research side. It uses AI to cluster pain points, solution requests and opinions across communities, so you can answer "what do people hate about [category]?" without reading 400 threads.

  • Good for: product and positioning research, content ideas.
  • Not for: real-time alerts or reply workflows.
  • Pricing: check reddinbox.com.

6. Octolens: for B2B teams listening across many platforms

Octolens monitors Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Hacker News, GitHub, YouTube, Stack Overflow, newsletters, podcasts and more, and uses AI to filter out irrelevant mentions before they reach Slack or email. It's built for B2B and developer-tool teams.

  • Good for: devtools and B2B SaaS where Reddit is one of several communities that matter.
  • Not for: small budgets or Reddit-only workflows.
  • Pricing: from $159/month (15,000 mentions, 10 keywords, hourly refresh). 7-day trial.

7. Reddit Pro: the free, official option

Reddit Pro is Reddit's own free toolset for businesses. It covers trends and keyword insights, conversations about your brand, and tools to post and reply as a business. Because it comes from Reddit, it doesn't carry the API risk that ended GummySearch.

  • Good for: a free baseline view of your category, straight from the source.
  • Not for: a filtered lead feed or AI research reports.
  • Pricing: free.

8. Brand24: for cross-channel brand monitoring

Brand24 covers Reddit alongside news, blogs, forums, reviews and the main social networks, with sentiment analysis and share-of-voice reports. It's a listening tool, not a Reddit research tool, but if GummySearch was mainly your brand-monitoring tool, Brand24 covers more ground.

  • Good for: marketing teams that report on brand health.
  • Not for: Reddit-specific audience discovery.
  • Pricing: paid plans start around $150–200/month.

9. PainOnSocial or PainHunt: for idea validation

If you used GummySearch to find startup ideas and validate problems, these are closer to that job. PainOnSocial curates pain points from Reddit. PainHunt pulls public posts from about two dozen sources (Hacker News, Stack Exchange, GitHub, app store reviews, Product Hunt, Bluesky and others) and scores each pain point for intensity and commercial potential. PainHunt doesn't cover Reddit live, so check which sources you need.

  • Good for: founders looking for problems worth building for.
  • Not for: ongoing marketing or lead gen.

How to choose

Pick based on what you did most often in GummySearch:

  • You mostly checked alerts: Syften, or F5Bot if you're on a zero budget. More options in our Reddit keyword monitoring tools guide.
  • You mostly researched audiences and pain points: Reddinbox, plus free Reddit Pro.
  • You mostly found threads to reply to: Redreach if Reddit is your only channel. The Okara Reddit Agent if Reddit is one of several channels you want handled from one place. See also Reddit lead generation tools.
  • You monitored many platforms for a B2B product: Octolens.
  • You were validating ideas: PainOnSocial or PainHunt.

Most former GummySearch users end up with two tools: one cheap alert tool (F5Bot or Syften) and one tool for their main job.

Rebuild your GummySearch setup in an afternoon

  1. Move your audiences. Paste your exported subreddit list into your new tool's community filters. If you're starting fresh, find subreddits for your niche first.
  2. Rebuild keyword tracks as intent phrases. Brand keywords alone are quiet. Add phrases people use when they're ready to buy: "alternative to [competitor]", "recommend a [category]", "anyone using [category]", "[competitor] too expensive".
  3. Add negative filters. Carry over the exclusions you used in GummySearch, like jobs, memes and the subreddits that never convert.
  4. Pick a review rhythm. Real-time alerts for brand mentions, a daily digest for everything else. If you don't read an alert within a day, it's noise.
  5. Write down your reply rules before you draft anything: disclose that you work on the product, answer the question first, and link only when it helps. Our Reddit marketing strategy covers the rest.

FAQ

Is GummySearch shutting down? Yes. It stopped accepting new customers, renewals and payments on November 30, 2025. Existing paid users keep access until their plan ends (lifetime deals until November 30, 2026), and the service shuts down with all user data deleted on December 1, 2026.

Why did GummySearch shut down? It couldn't get a commercial license for Reddit's Data API on terms that fit Reddit's policies, and its founder chose not to keep operating without one.

What is the best free GummySearch alternative? F5Bot for keyword alerts, and Reddit Pro for official trend and keyword data. For manual research, Google site:reddit.com "your keyword" is still one of the fastest methods.

Is there a GummySearch alternative that does everything it did? No. GummySearch combined audience research, pain-point analysis and keyword tracking in one product. Expect to use two tools: one for alerts and one for your main job, whether that's research or leads.

Can I export my GummySearch data? Yes, until the shutdown date. Export audiences, keyword lists, saved conversations and reports before December 1, 2026. After that, the data is deleted.
