With one SEO lead supporting HeMed and SheMed, Okara helped the team grow search sessions, impressions, AI citations, and technical site health—without compromising clinical quality.
Growing search visibility across two healthcare brands
SheMed is one of the fastest-growing femtech brands in the UK. Part of the eMed group, the company operates in the highly competitive GLP-1 weight-loss market and was valued at £1 billion after raising $50 million.
“If you're a small team trying to cover SEO and content across more than one brand, Okara gives you back the hours you don't have. It's not replacing my judgment—I'm still checking every piece of clinical content myself—but it's doing the heavy lifting so I can focus on strategy instead of just keeping up.”
The opportunity is substantial: approximately 48% of the UK population is classified as overweight or obese. But the category is crowded, fast-moving, and filled with competitors fighting for the same search visibility.
Richard Tester joined SheMed as SEO Growth Manager in April 2026. Alongside growing SheMed’s organic presence, he also supports HeMed, its smaller male-focused sister brand, using the same infrastructure and team.
The challenge
With one person covering SEO and content strategy across two brands, bandwidth quickly became the constraint.
“I came in to boost the SEO of SheMed, and on top of that I'm also covering HeMed for about a couple hours a week. There's only so much strategy and content you can produce solo across two brands. I needed something that could help me move faster without taking my eye off the quality bar.”
Richard needed to increase output without lowering the quality bar—particularly important for brands publishing regulated healthcare content.
A workflow designed for focused check-ins
Richard was introduced to Okara by his colleague Yash, and they now monitor the platform together.
The format of the dashboard matched how Richard actually works: short, focused check-ins rather than long strategy sessions.
“The dashboard is seamless, clear, well-structured, and broken into bite-sized snapshots that actually fit into my schedule. I don't have a day to sit and dig through data every day, but I can do a 20 to 30 minute scan and know exactly what needs attention.”
Richard checks Okara daily or every other day, usually for 20 to 30 minutes. He uses it alongside Semrush’s Visibility Toolkit, Google Search Console, Bing, and Claude for research and insight.
The agents behind the workflow
Richard regularly uses four of Okara’s marketing agents:
SEO Agent to identify search opportunities and technical issues
GEO Agent to improve visibility across AI answer engines
Writer Agent to produce search-focused article drafts
The blog posts published on HeMed were generated using Okara, along with several LinkedIn posts.
Richard runs target keywords through Okara AI CMO before using the Writer Agent to generate a draft. He estimates that these drafts reach approximately 80–90% accuracy on the first pass.
Keeping clinical verification in the workflow
Because SheMed and HeMed operate in a regulated healthcare category, every AI-generated article still passes through eMed’s clinical team before publication.
Okara accelerates research and production, while SheMed’s team retains control over clinical accuracy and final approval.
Avoiding search cannibalization
HeMed currently has lower domain authority than SheMed, and protecting SheMed’s traffic remains the priority.
Richard deliberately directs HeMed’s content toward male-specific subjects and side effects that do not overlap with SheMed’s primary search terms. This content strategy helps the team grow both brands without allowing the smaller site to compete with the flagship brand.
Growing SEO and AI visibility together
Since adopting Okara, Richard has recorded improvements across traditional search, AI visibility, and technical site health:
56% growth in GA4 sessions during the August 3–16 comparison period
27% increase in Google search impressions over two weeks
1,225% growth in Bing AI citations
Technical site health improvement from 79 to 84
AI technical health score of 95/100
Richard has found that Okara’s GEO recommendations compare well with other platforms he considers industry standards.
Importantly, SEO and GEO have not competed for attention. Search traffic and AI citations have grown together because newly published content supports both traditional search engines and AI discovery platforms.
Richard expects conventional search growth to eventually plateau while AI citations continue climbing, although the timeline for that shift remains uncertain.
What’s next
Richard is looking forward to several additions to Okara:
A LinkedIn creator program covering 500 creators across Europe and North America
Post boosting for high-performing organic content
A monthly content calendar
Updated SEO and GEO agents that prioritize the most important actions instead of presenting a flat daily list
