The skill file
--- name: cta-copy description: Write calls to action that get clicked — a specific verb, the outcome named, friction removed, and the objection handled in the line underneath. owner: Okara Writer Agent --- # Call to Action Generator A CTA is three things: the button label, the line above it, and the reassurance below it. Most teams write only the button, use "Submit," and wonder why the page converts badly.

About this skill
What is the CTA Copy?
The CTA Copy skill is the exact approach Okara’s Writer Agent follows to turn a vague button into a click. It treats a call to action as three pieces rather than one: the persuasive line above it, a button label in the user’s own words that names the outcome, and the microcopy underneath that defuses whatever objection is stopping the click.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Use it when traffic reaches a page and stalls, or when every button on your site says "Learn more."
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running the skill across your pages — CTAs written, tested, and matched to visitor temperature — is part of the Writer Agent.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “Our pricing page button says "Get Started" and barely anyone clicks it.”
Agent does: It points out that "Get Started" hides what happens next, which is exactly the friction stopping the click. The label becomes first person with the outcome named — what the visitor gets, not what the form does. Then it writes the two pieces you are missing: the sentence directly above the button, which carries most of the persuasion and is currently a heading nobody wrote on purpose, and the microcopy underneath answering the unspoken question on a pricing page ("No credit card. Cancel anytime."). It also flags that your demo button sits next to it at equal weight, splitting the click, and recommends demoting it to a text link — plus four alternates to test, since CTA copy is the cheapest change on the page.
How it works
From input to output
- 1
You describe the action
Tell it what happens on click, who is clicking, and what the page is asking for.
- 2
Okara names the outcome
The Writer Agent rewrites the label in first person with the result stated, not hidden.
- 3
It writes the surrounding lines
You get the persuasive sentence above the button and the objection-handling microcopy below it.
- 4
You test the alternates
Four more variants ship with the recommendation, because CTA copy is the cheapest thing to test.
What's included
Everything it covers
Outcome-named labels
Buttons that say what is on the other side instead of hiding it behind "Get started."
First-person verbs
Labels written in the user’s words, not descriptions of what the form does.
Supporting line
The sentence directly above the button — usually neglected, usually where the persuasion lives.
Objection microcopy
"No credit card," "2 minutes," "cancel anytime" — the line that often outperforms the button.
Commitment matching
Scales the ask to visitor temperature so a cold reader is not asked to book a demo.
Test variants
Four alternates alongside the recommendation, ready to run as an experiment.
Use cases
When to reach for it
- Lift conversion on a page that gets traffic and no clicks.
- Replace generic "Learn more" buttons across a whole site.
- Produce real variants for a landing page test.
- Match the ask to a cold audience instead of demanding a demo.
- Add the microcopy that removes the unspoken objection.
