The skill file
--- name: ghostwriting description: Write in someone else's voice convincingly — extract their real patterns from existing material, mine their thinking through interviews, and produce drafts they'd have written themselves. owner: Okara Writer Agent --- # Ghostwriting Ghostwriting fails when the writer substitutes their own voice and adds a few of the subject's catchphrases. Doing it properly means extracting the subject's actual patterns — how they argue, what they refuse to say — and writing from inside those constraints.

About this skill
What is the Ghostwriting?
The Ghostwriting skill is the exact approach Okara’s Writer Agent follows to write convincingly in someone else’s name. It builds a voice profile from real samples — sentence rhythm, favorite constructions, how they open and close — catalogs the words they would never use, and matches how they build an argument, not just how they phrase a sentence.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Use it to produce content under a founder or client byline, or to make an inconsistent personal voice repeatable across a whole content program.
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running the skill — a maintained voice profile that sharpens with every edit, applied across everything published in that person’s name — is part of the Writer Agent.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “Our CEO wants to publish weekly but hates everything we draft for her. Fix it.”
Agent does: It stops drafting and builds a profile first, from her actual material: she opens with a concession before disagreeing, argues from customer anecdote rather than data, writes in long sentences broken by very short ones, and never uses "leverage," "unlock," or an exclamation point. Then it separates style from substance — the interview questions exist to extract the specific stories and numbers only she has, because voice with nothing behind it reads as impersonation. Drafts come back with her structural habits intact, including the repetitions a copy editor would remove, and any line the profile was unsure about is flagged for her to decide rather than smoothed over. Every edit she makes goes back into the profile.
How it works
From input to output
- 1
You supply the samples
Share existing writing, talks, or internal messages from the person whose voice you need.
- 2
Okara builds the voice profile
The Writer Agent extracts real patterns and anti-patterns — including the words they would never use.
- 3
It mines the substance
Interview prompts pull out the opinions, stories, and numbers only that person has, so the voice has something behind it.
- 4
You edit, the profile sharpens
Every correction feeds back into the profile, so each subsequent draft needs fewer changes.
What's included
Everything it covers
Pattern-based voice profile
Sentence rhythm, openings, closings, and constructions extracted from real samples, not adjectives.
Anti-pattern catalog
The buzzwords, hedges, and punctuation the subject would never use.
Substance interviews
Questions designed to extract the stories and numbers only the subject can provide.
Argument structure matching
Matches how they build a case — anecdote first, data first, or contrarian claim first.
Read-aloud test
Flags any line the subject would stumble over, because that is a line they would not have written.
Profile learning loop
Folds every edit back into the profile so drafts converge on their voice over time.
Use cases
When to reach for it
- Publish weekly under a founder byline without the founder writing weekly.
- Produce content for clients in their own voice at volume.
- Make an executive’s inconsistent writing repeatable across a team.
- Keep one recognizable voice across content written by several people.
- Stop the endless rewrite cycle on drafts the subject keeps rejecting.
