# Persuasive Copywriting

Persuasion is not intensity. Loud copy that argues against what the reader
already believes loses. This skill starts from the reader's existing position,
moves one step at a time, and proves each claim on the way.

About this skill

What is the Persuasive Copywriting?

The Persuasive Copywriting skill is the exact approach Okara’s Writer Agent follows to write copy that moves a decision rather than describing a product. It maps what the reader currently believes, opens from a point of agreement, names the real objections before the reader does, and attaches evidence to every claim — including the switching costs that accurate copy usually ignores.

It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Use it when you are up against an entrenched incumbent, or when your copy is accurate and still loses.

Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running the skill across your pages and campaigns — objections tracked from real sales calls, proof kept current — is part of the Writer Agent.

Most persuasive copy fails at the belief, not the sentence: stating a claim more forcefully doesn’t move a reader who already disagrees with it, it just gets tuned out along with everything around it. The strongest counters to an entrenched incumbent rarely come from louder claims — they come from naming the switching cost the reader was already quietly worried about before they thought to raise it. That’s the difference between copy that argues and copy that actually changes a decision.

Example

See it in action

You ask: Our page describes the product perfectly and we still lose to the incumbent every time.

Agent does: It maps the belief gap first: your reader already thinks the incumbent is "good enough and safe," so opening with a claim that contradicts that ends the read. The new opening starts from something they agree with, then names the objection they have not said out loud — that switching means retraining a team mid-quarter — and answers it directly, because unspoken objections get acted on rather than resolved. Each claim gets evidence attached: a number, a named customer, a guarantee. It replaces "dramatically faster onboarding" with the actual figures, addresses migration and internal politics as real costs rather than pretending price is the only one, and hands your reader the one sentence they will use to sell it internally to someone who was never on the call.

How it works

From input to output

  1. 1

    You define the decision

Say what you want the reader to do and what they currently believe about the alternative.

  2. 2

    Okara maps the belief gap

The Writer Agent finds the point of agreement to open from and the objections to name first.

  3. 3

    It builds the argument sequence

Paragraph by paragraph, one increment at a time, with evidence attached to every claim.

  4. 4

You close with the smallest step

The ask matches the belief you just changed, plus the line your reader repeats internally.

What's included

Everything it covers

  • Belief map

What the reader thinks now versus what they need to hold, and the distance between them.

  • Objections named first

Says the hard thing before the reader thinks it, so it gets resolved rather than acted on.

  • Proof per claim

A number, demo, named customer, or guarantee attached to every assertion on the page.

  • Switching cost handling

Addresses migration, retraining, and internal politics — not just price.

  • Internal-champion line

The one sentence your reader repeats to the person who was never on the call.

  • Incremental close

An ask sized to the belief you actually moved, not to the deal you want.

Use cases

When to reach for it

  • Beat an entrenched incumbent your copy currently loses to.
  • Turn accurate product copy into copy that converts.
  • Arm an internal champion who has to sell you upward.
  • Handle the objection sales hears on every call, on the page itself.
  • Change a belief rather than list another feature.
