About this skill

What is the Press Release?

The Press Release skill is the exact approach Okara’s Writer Agent follows to write an announcement that survives a journalist’s 30-second scan. It starts by checking whether there is news at all, headlines the news rather than the company, puts the complete story in the first paragraph, and replaces "we’re thrilled" quotes with ones that carry actual information.

It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Use it for funding, launches, partnerships, and acquisitions — anywhere you need a document trade press can run with minimal editing.

Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running the skill — releases drafted on demand plus the personalized pitches that actually earn coverage — is part of the Writer Agent.

Example

See it in action

You ask: Write a press release for our Series A — $12M led by a fund nobody has heard of.

Agent does: It kills the draft headline ("Acme Announces Exciting Series A Funding Round") and writes the news instead: the amount and what it buys, under twelve words, no adjectives. Paragraph one carries the entire story — who, what, when, where, why — so a journalist cutting everything after it still has something publishable. Paragraph two supplies the market context that makes $12M significant rather than routine. The CEO quote gets rewritten from "we’re thrilled" into a claim with a reason behind it, and the investor quote is cut entirely because it said nothing. Every number gets a source, since journalists check. It ends with a named contact who will answer within the hour, and a note that the release is not the distribution strategy.

How it works

From input to output

  1. 1

    You give it the announcement

Share what happened, who is involved, and why anyone outside the company should care.

  2. 2

    Okara checks it is news

The Writer Agent tells you honestly if the announcement will not land, rather than writing a release for the trash.

  3. 3

    It writes the inverted pyramid

Headline on the news, complete story in paragraph one, significance in paragraph two, verifiable facts throughout.

  4. 4

You get a usable, quotable release

Quotes that carry information, standing boilerplate, and a named contact who can answer fast.

What's included

Everything it covers

  • News check

An honest verdict on whether the announcement is news before a word gets written.

  • Adjective-free headline

Under twelve words, leading with the news rather than the company name.

  • Inverted-pyramid lead

The whole story in paragraph one, so a cut after it still leaves something publishable.

  • Quotes worth quoting

Replaces "we’re thrilled" with claims, reasons, and information the body does not carry.

  • Verifiable facts

Every number sourced and every customer named with permission, because journalists check.

  • Newsroom note

Embargo, available assets, and who can be interviewed — the details that make coverage easy.

Use cases

When to reach for it

  • Announce funding in a form the trade press can run unedited.
  • Publish a launch, partnership, or acquisition to your newsroom.
  • Fix a release full of adjectives and thrilled-to-announce quotes.
  • Give a wire service a document that needs no rewriting.
  • Find out honestly whether your announcement is actually news.
