# Testimonial
A good testimonial is specific and believable. Generic praise ("great tool!")
persuades no one; a concrete before-and-after in the customer's own words does.
This skill helps you draw that out and shape it — it never invents quotes.Log in to view, copy, and download the complete skill file.
About this skill
What is the Testimonial?
The Testimonial skill is the instruction set Okara’s Writer Agent uses to turn vague praise into specific, believable social proof. It covers the questions that pull a concrete story out of a happy customer, the light editing that keeps their voice while cutting filler, and the attribution and formatting that make a testimonial credible instead of generic.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that both people and AI agents can follow directly. Read it to understand the approach, adapt it for your own outreach, or let the Writer Agent draft the questions and shape the replies.
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Turning real customer input into pull quotes and full testimonials, consistently formatted, is part of the Writer Agent. The skill only ever edits real input — it never fabricates.
That gap isn’t a small edge to leave on the table. Consumer research consistently finds the large majority of shoppers — surveys commonly put it above 90% — read reviews or other third-party proof before buying, and about 54% say they trust that proof more than recommendations from friends, family, or marketing. A generic "great tool!" testimonial squanders that trust; a specific before-and-after hands a skeptical reader exactly the kind of evidence they already rely on more than a referral from someone they know.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “A customer sent "Great tool, saved us so much time!" How do I turn that into a usable testimonial?”
Agent does: That line is warm but generic — it could describe any tool. I’d go back with three quick questions: what were you doing before, what specifically changed, and can you put a number on the time saved? A reply like "We used to spend a full day a week on reports; now it’s about an hour" becomes: "We went from a full day a week on reports to about an hour." I’d keep their words, trim the filler, and pair it with their name, role, and company. Want me to draft the follow-up questions and a short pull-quote version?
