About this skill
What is the Translation?
The Translation skill is the instruction set Okara’s Writer Agent uses to localize content so it reads as if it were written in the target language, not translated into it. It goes past word-for-word conversion to preserve meaning and tone, adapt idioms and cultural references, keep terminology consistent with a glossary, and handle the details — dates, currency, formatting — that mark the difference between fluent and foreign.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that both people and AI agents can follow directly. Read it to understand the localization method, adapt it for your languages, or let the Writer Agent translate and localize your copy.
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Localizing content across languages while keeping terminology and voice consistent is part of the Writer Agent.
The failure mode this skill guards against is expensive precisely because it’s invisible to whoever approves it: a literal translation reads as fluent to the person who commissioned it and as foreign, or occasionally unintentionally funny, to the native speaker it was actually written for. Nobody writes back to complain that a translated page felt merely adequate — they just quietly conclude the company doesn’t take their market seriously, which is a harder impression to undo than the original line was to fix.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “Translate our tagline "Get more done, faster" into German — but it can’t sound clunky.”
Agent does: A literal translation ("Erledige mehr, schneller") is grammatical but flat and a bit awkward as a tagline. Localizing for impact, I’d suggest "Mehr schaffen. In weniger Zeit." — it keeps the promise, reads naturally to a German speaker, and holds the punchy two-part rhythm a tagline needs. I’d also confirm your preferred register (the formal "Sie" vs. the informal "du"), since that choice runs through all your copy. Want two more options and a short glossary so we translate key terms the same way every time?
