About this skill
What is the Customer Journey?
The Customer Journey skill is the exact approach Okara’s AI CMO follows to map the path customers actually take. It builds from interviews, session data, and support tickets rather than a workshop whiteboard, starts at the trigger event rather than the homepage visit, names the dominant question and emotion at each stage, and ends with ranked friction points that have owners attached.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Use it when conversion drops somewhere nobody can identify, or when marketing, sales, and support each describe a different customer path.
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running the skill — the map maintained against live data and the content gaps filled per stage — is part of the Okara AI CMO.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “We lose people somewhere between signup and activation and we can’t see where.”
Agent does: It refuses to start from your funnel labels and builds stages the customer would recognize instead, from the trigger event that made the problem urgent — weeks before anyone visited your site, which is where most of your content gap turns out to be. Each stage gets its dominant question (which doubles as a content brief) and its emotional state, because a skeptical reader and an overwhelmed one need different tone. Touchpoints include the ones you do not own: the review site and the Slack community thread that decide more deals than your pricing page. Then the actual deliverable — friction points ranked by how many customers hit them and how fixable they are, with the activation drop traced to a specific step where people backtrack and open support tickets. Every friction point gets an owner, because unowned ones survive three quarterly reviews unchanged.
How it works
From input to output
- 1
You supply the evidence
Share analytics, sales recordings, support tickets, and churn notes — whatever you have.
- 2
Okara builds stages from data
The AI CMO defines stages in the customer’s language, starting at the trigger event rather than the homepage.
- 3
It maps questions, emotions, touchpoints
Per stage: the dominant question, the emotional state, and every touchpoint — including the ones you don’t own.
- 4
You get ranked friction with owners
The deliverable is a prioritized friction list with an owner and next action on each one.
What's included
Everything it covers
Evidence-based stages
Built from interviews and session data, in the customer’s words rather than internal funnel labels.
Pre-awareness trigger stage
Starts at the moment the problem became urgent, where most content gaps hide.
Question per stage
The dominant question at each step, which doubles as the content brief for it.
Emotional state
Skeptical, overwhelmed, hopeful — what determines the tone and where reassurance belongs.
Unowned touchpoints
Review sites, communities, and colleagues that influence the decision outside your control.
Ranked friction with owners
Prioritized by reach and fixability, each assigned to someone accountable.
Use cases
When to reach for it
- Locate the drop between signup and activation nobody can currently see.
- Align marketing, sales, and support on one version of the customer path.
- Turn each journey stage into a content brief aimed at a real question.
- Find the unowned touchpoints deciding deals outside your site.
- Extend a map that stops at the sale into onboarding and renewal.

Personal Brand
The positioning method Okara’s AI CMO uses to build a personal brand: one narrow lane, an unfair angle, recurring content buckets, and a cadence you can hold for a year.

That means it comes from narrowness and repetition, not from posting more. This skill picks the lane,
Competitive Analysis
The market-mapping method Okara’s AI CMO uses to find who you’re really losing to, where the defensible gap is, and what to change this quarter.
--- name: competitive-analysis description: Map the real competitive set — including the spreadsheet and the status quo — find the position you can defend, and turn the findings into decisions rather than a slide deck. owner: Okara AI CMO --- # Competitive Analysis Most competitive analysis is a feature grid nobody reads. A useful one answers three questions: who are we actually losing to, why, and what should we change
Buyer Psychology
The decision-force method Okara’s AI CMO uses to explain why good products lose: trigger events, status quo bias, perceived risk per role, and the cost of championing you.
--- name: buyer-psychology description: Understand what actually drives a purchase decision — perceived risk, status quo bias, internal politics, and the trigger that makes change urgent — and write to those forces. owner: Okara AI CMO --- # Buyer Psychology People don't buy the best option. They buy the option that feels least risky once they've decided change is necessary at all. This skill maps the forces
