About this skill
What is the Ecommerce SEO?
The Ecommerce SEO skill is the methodology Okara’s SEO Agent uses to grow organic revenue for online stores: making category and product pages rank for high-intent demand, keeping faceted navigation and variants under control, and protecting crawl budget across a large catalog.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Read it to understand how store-wide issues get triaged at the template level, adapt it for your own platform, or let the SEO Agent run it against your catalog.
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running them continuously, with template-level fixes prioritized and shipped as your catalog changes, is part of the SEO Agent.
This also isn’t a one-time template fix. Ahrefs’ research into page-one rankings found the average #1 result is now about 5 years old, up from roughly 2 years in 2017, and that nearly 73% of page-one pages are more than 3 years old — the category and product pages holding top spots are the ones sellers keep updating as stock, pricing, and seasons change, not the ones launched once and left alone.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “Our category pages on acme-store.com barely rank, and filters created 40k URLs in Search Console. Where do we start?”
Agent does: Two things are capping you. Your faceted navigation is indexable, so 40k filter URLs are diluting crawl budget and burying your real category pages — canonicalize the color and size filters and block multi-filter combinations. And your category pages have no unique copy or links to top products, so they read as thin. Add intros and product links to your top five categories first, then clean up the facets.
