About this skill
What is the Programmatic SEO?
The Programmatic SEO skill is the methodology Okara’s SEO Agent uses to scale content responsibly: pairing a repeatable template with a unique dataset to target large sets of similar queries, while enforcing a quality bar so every page earns its place in the index.
It’s written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Read it to understand how a page set is validated, designed, and quality-gated, adapt it for your own stack, or let the SEO Agent plan and control the rollout for you.
Downloading the instructions is free with an Okara account. Running it continuously, with indexation monitored and thin pages pruned as the set grows, is part of the SEO Agent.
That quality bar doesn’t end at launch, either. Ahrefs’ research into page-one rankings found the average #1 result is now about 5 years old, up from roughly 2 years in 2017, and that nearly 73% of page-one pages are more than 3 years old — the same holds for scaled pages built from a dataset. Stale prices, outdated availability, or data that stopped updating quietly turns a useful page into a thin one, so the dataset behind the template needs the same upkeep as the pages themselves.
Example
See it in action
You ask: “We want to build a "[service] in [city]" page for every city we serve — thousands of pages. How do we do this without getting penalized?”
Agent does: The pattern is fine — the risk is thin, duplicate pages. First confirm real search demand exists across enough cities, then find unique data for each one (local pricing, availability, real listings), because that data is what stops the pages being duplicates. Build a template with genuinely useful content per city, not just a swapped city name. Set a quality gate that noindexes any city with too little data, roll out in batches, and watch how many actually get indexed before scaling to the full set.

How it works
From input to output
- 1
You provide the pattern and data
Share the query template you want to target and the dataset that will populate it.
- 2
Okara validates the opportunity
The SEO Agent confirms real, repeatable demand exists and that the dataset is unique enough to avoid thin pages.
- 3
It designs a quality-gated template
A page template, URL model, and internal-link structure are planned, with a rule that suppresses thin pages.
- 4
You get a controlled rollout
Pages launch in batches with indexation monitored, so you scale on what works and prune what doesn’t.
What's included
Everything it covers
Pattern validation
Confirms a query template has real, repeatable demand across enough values before you build.
Template design
Plans a page template with genuinely differentiated content, not just swapped variables.
Data-driven pages
Turns a unique dataset into the value that keeps each page from being a duplicate.
Quality gates
Sets a minimum value bar that suppresses or noindexes pages with too little data.
URL & link model
Defines a clean URL pattern and how the page set links to itself and to hubs.
Indexation control
Rolls out in batches and monitors how many pages actually get indexed.
Use cases
When to reach for it
- Cover thousands of "X in [city]" or "Y vs Z" queries you can’t write by hand.
- Build a directory, comparison, or location section that ranks.
- Scale a unique dataset into indexable, useful pages.
- Avoid the thin-content trap that sinks most programmatic projects.
- Control indexation so only pages that earn their place go live.
